The Horror Part Deux

So... it wasn't just me and munch, but Troll and Kumiko too... It's been an ongoing battle all evening. Joy! At this point I'm fine, having regurgitated everything available (not much, considering I only had bacon, eggs and cabbage for breakfast and nothing after that). So I'm now in charge of the regurgitation cleaning brigade, standing firm at 3 loads of laundry and (hopefully not) climbing.

The conclusion, if we stick to the 'bad food' which fits my symptoms then we're down to one possible culprit... THE MILK! THE MILK (with it's cute baby wolf on the side) will be turned over to public health officials tomorrow, just in case it's been really naughty and not just gone bad in the warm house.

Anyways, I shall leave you all with something more cheerful:

The Horror!

So this was one day I'd like a take back on, at least partially... Bleh.

It started out well enough, I took the car to the shop to get repaired and I got some studying done there while waiting for them to finish it up. Have I ever mentioned that service in Japan is way above average? Probably, it's one of their cultural selling points if you want to put it that way. Anyways, I get home and the trouble starts... Munchkin is on a roll with vomiting. Everything she put in, came up. No fun to be had there. Then we get a nice delivery of mismatched socks! They rock, even if they are pricey (shop in Vermont for the uninitiated - best woolies ever and you don't have to worry about matching, because they don't). At the same time I get my x-mas present - WotLK - computer game. Me and the kids went through the art book that came with it to appropriate calls of 'oooo' (Munch) and 'scary' (Troll). I love doing that - and Sasha always has a blast with scary stuff, to the point of singing 'Scary, scary, it's not scary...' - a song from the morning kids' English show. Gave me a wonderful giggle. Then I get queasy - oh and all through this Munch is throwing up at regular intervals. Yay...

So there we are with two queasy people and we figured that Munch must have eaten something that made her throw up, because that's pretty much the only time I get queasy. My new diet has done wonders for stabilizing all kinds of stomach/intestinal issues and on top of general balance every time I get even a touch of bad food it comes back up. Sometimes it takes a while. I don't mind the puking, it's generally hard, fast and complete and then I feel just fine... but being queasy, plus cleaning up a long stream of baby puke on me, the sheets, towels etc. (One whole load of laundry ready to go with just baby puked on stuff) it is a bit much. It was quite unpleasant. Now of course I finished, in the sink rather than the porcelain god, which made more of a mess to clean up... but I'm good. And wifey dearest comes down and says 'I'm queasy and have a period'... if it doesn't rain it pours. Right now Troll and obasan are fine and segregated from the hospital population, although I'm at least back to snuff... although still cleaning up my lovely mess in the bathroom sink and shower from my latest regurgitation event. Joys.

Oh, and we had about 20cm of snow last night, and probably another 5cm of snow/sleet today. It's getting nice and white... and I had to shovel snow this morning. Is that a good or a bad thing?

Enough regurgitation and desire for takebacks and on with the show!

Forgot to mention

The new president is an intelligent constitutional law scholar, that should be solidly in the plus column. Not much more to say about that aspect. A lot of people think the color barrier issue is a big one, and for generations older than me, I suspect it is a huge issue. For the immigrant and black communities it is huge. For me... color? What color? I really could care less, beyond the possibility that we finally will see see more than one qualified, intelligent candidate in future elections. I'm not betting on it though.

That being said, McCain used to be decent. Sad to see him reduced to Palin as a running mate.

And that really should be the last word for today... although Alaska seem keen to elect Mr. Pork and Bribes Stevens to the senate... that blows the mind.

Listening to the Acceptance speech

I now know why you shouldn't listen to the candidates directly. Obama is a fantastic speaker. Easy to get caught up in if he goes full bore. As good a reason as any to make sure you don't listen to campaign speeches. Getting caught up in charisma does not enable one to make good decisions on election issues.

Uh, oh. There are some real issues in this speech. Individual liberty and 'spirit of service'... eep! Someone did not manage their incompatible terms properly. Individual liberty is completely incompatible with anything other than a voluntary decision to help. Government does not factor. Gah! Any suggestions concerning a 'national service' or similar stuff... these are ideas that are not compatible with the idea of individual liberty. Please, that kind of thinking is straight up stupid.

Last batch. Hope you enjoy them.

I have a few more, but a lot of them need to be turned, and I don't have the time to do that right now.
